Well Halladay IS Gone!

Its funny how quickly a deal happens sometimes. Roy Halladay is now a Phillie and the one player all Toronto fans respected is now gone. Gone with him is the incredible work ethic and his unequaled desire to win each game.

What are the Jays left with? Well, the kids they acquired should speed up the rebuilding process. You have to remember the Jays have one of the worst farm systems in the majors as far as position players go. After Travis Snider was called up, they really didn't have many players left in the minors that project to be a star. That's why I like the acquisition of Brett Wallace, who although position-less is at the very least a solid hitting prospect.  He should add a solid average/power bat to the lineup if he can cut down on his strikeouts at the major league level. Kyle Drabek will add to an already deep young pitching core.

The 2010 season is essentially rendered a write off with the Halladay trade. However, if you take a look at what they gained going forward, this was at the very least a solid move. Unfortunately for all involved, time will tell if the Jays get the better of this deal.
